In 1989 Italian Government officials visited the New Italy Museum Complex and decided to present us with part of the contents and part of the structure of the Italian Pavilion building used at World Expo 88 in Brisbane. Volunteers brought the materials down in many truck loads and rebuilt the structure.
In 1993, the newly built Italian Pavilion was officially opened by the Governor General of Australia, Mr Bill Hayden. The exhibitions include representations of the 20 Italian Provinces, histories of Italian settlement in Australia, and in particular stories of the extensive Italian settlement on the North Coast of NSW.
During 2021, we are beginning the refurbishment of the Italian Pavilion and the upgrade of displays.
